www.romanlife-romeitaly.com The Spanish steps Rome Italy: The Spanish Steps (once residence to the Spanish ambassador in the 1600s)is known in Italian as Piazza di Spagna (Spanish square). They lead up to the Trinita dei Monti, where the views over Rome Italy are spectacular. The fountain at the bottom of the Spanish Steps is called "Fontana della Barcaccia" - old useless boat - and was designed by Bernini. This area in the 17th and 18th century was the tourist heart of Rome. --- My videos are an attempt at helping you get a feel for Roman life and what it may be like strolling through Rome Italy. Let me know how I am doing... For more info on the Spanish steps or Rome Italy you can visit my website: www.romanlife-romeitaly.com

www.romanlife-romeitaly.com Insane Rome traffic at night in Piazza Venezia, Rome Italy. This is one of the craziest "free for all" traffic intersections I've seen. It's impressive that you don't hear much hooting.

www.romanlife-romeitaly.com Flooding in Rome Italy at the Tiber Island. The video shows the high flood water level and wreckage from house boats and barges that broke from their moorings due to the flooding in Rome. The hospital on Tiber island wasn't effected by the floods but on the downstream side the water was high up the church walls. (You can see this on my other video of the flooding in Rome.) The rescue services were on standby to assist the hospital if levels continued to rise. Below , on either side of the Tevere (Tiber river) are actually cycling lanes. They were submerged by about 8 meters/yards of water! If you consider that the normal level of the water in the Tiber River (Tevere) is about 1 to 2 meters below the cycling lane! --- For more info and pictures of the Rome floods you can visit my website: www.romanlife-romeitaly.com

http://www.romanlife-romeitaly.com We were out in Trastevere Rome, one Friday night in Mid December, and found this guy performing in the side streets. He was wearing a hat made from the beak of a stalk and had an array of shakers, hooters and maraccas attached to his legs and arms. I love characters like these, we were the first to stop and about 5 minutes later there was eventually quite a crowd. We gave him some money, and immediately after he whipped out his own CD that he had produced!Brilliant. You gotta love Rome, something and someone interesting around every corner! http://www.romanlife-romeitaly.com

http://www.romanlife-romeitaly.com Piazza Navona is absolutely spectacular during Christmas Time in Rome Italy. I managed to get this clip at 9:00Pm December 18th 2008 at a relatively quiet time before the square starts filling up. In the center of the square is the beautiful "Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi" - the fountain of the four rivers. On the sides of the squares you have different stalls displaying their Christmas nativity scenes, selling roasted chest nuts and hot bagels. You gotta love Rome, something and someone interesting around every corner!--- For more info on Rome, Christmas in Rome and Rome night life you can visit my website: http://www.romanlife-romeitaly.com

www.romanlife-romeitaly.com Rome Floods December 2008. Rome Italy. The video shows thePonte Sant' Angelo Bridge in Rome Italy , in front of Castel Sant' Angelo. There are about 5 boats (house boats, barges, and a Tevere dinner/tour cruise boat) that due to the Rome floods have broken free from their moorings. The have been crushed and wedged between the arches of the bridge. The situation is quite dangerous because the boats are obstructing the flow of water. To prevent any further rising of water and pressure against thePonte Sant' Angelo the fire service have been ordered to dismantle the boats. You can appreciate the height of the water if you consider that the normal level of the water is about 1 to 2 meters below the cycling lane and the cycling lane is now about 7 meters under water! --- For more info and pictures of the Rome floods you can visit my website: www.romanlife-romeitaly.com

Commissioned by Emperor Caracalla the Ancient Roman Baths of Caracalla were completed AD 217. These Roman bath houses boasted modern plumbing of copper tubing and valves, and could accommodate over 1500 guests at a time. What I am trying to achieve with this and my other videos is to give people a feel for Rome and real Roman daily life. Let me know how I am doing, thanks.

www.romanlife-romeitaly.com Rome Italy Looking across modern day Circus Maximus, I'm not sure what some people expect, but I suppose it's not a green park (used also for many rock concerts). Palatine hill, that features the ancient ruins of Roman emperor's villas, is the birth place of Roman mythology. Romulus and Remus were supposed to have been raised in a cave by a she-wolf on Palatine hill. --- My videos are an attempt at helping you get a feel for Roman life and what it may be like strolling through Rome Italy . http://www.romanlife-romeitaly.com This intersection is situated at Piazza Venezia (Venice Square) in Rome Italy. This was actually a calm day, you should see how it gets in Summer! The building that appears to the right is the Victor Emmanuel Monument. The monuments sits against the Capitoline hill, and just behind Capitoline Hill is the Roman Forum which runs to the Colosseum. What I am trying to do with my videos is give people a feel for Roman life and what it's like to be in Rome Italy. Let me know how I am doing.
