Watch the changing of the guard, and experience the sights and sounds of Athens, Greece. Then join us at the Acropolis where the Apostle Paul was said to have preached. Ancient Greek ruins of the Acropolis are a site to see.

An affordable hotel in a good location (Syntagma Square), Hotel Amazon is a practical choice for a night in Athens.

The subway in athens is reliable and convenient, especially if you want to get between the airport, downtown Athens, and the 2 ports, Piraeus and Rafina.

We looked for a basic, affordable, conveniently located hotel for our first night in Athens. Hotel Economy fit the bill and more. Located in Ommonia Square, it is right by the flea markets and just a short walk to Monastiraki and Syntagma Squares. Ommonia Square also has a direct line to the Piraeus Port, which is what we needed for our early morning ferry ride. The concierge was kind enough to prepare "breakfast packets" for us since we were leaving before the breakfast buffet; we thought it was a warm and thoughtful gesture even though the food itself wasn't that great (it's the thought that counts). Overall, good hotel for your buck.

Mt. Lycabettus is the best place to watch the sunset in Athens. You can see the Acropolis and all the other sights illuminated by the setting sun. Walk up the stairs from Kolonaki, and take the cable car (6 euros), and await the sunset with all the other tourists. You can also walk up - we chose to walk down, and it was a pleasant walk.

My friend Sophia told us about this charming little cafe and zoo in the National Gardens. We were glad to make it there - it was the perfect place to take a break during our touristy day. The zoo right next to the cafe is pretty fun too!
