As with most things in Guatemala you can spend any range of money on a place to sleep in Antigua. Many mid-range hotels have a rooftop terrace with a view of surrounding volcanoes.

We came to Rainbow Cafe for what we heard was the best coffee in Guatemala, and we liked it so much we went back twice! It's the kind of place where you would want to hang out at night to listen to live music and come back Sunday morning for brunch in the open air cafe. It's definitely worth a visit.

Palacio Chico is an example of an average mid-range hotel in Antigua. Our room, in particular, is better for a large group than for a solo traveler because of the shared bathroom. However, breakfast and free internet were both included in the price ($50/night). We enjoyed our stay here but moved into another hotel that was a bit cheaper and just as nice. It's easy to find hotels with quaint garden areas and terraces with spectacular views.

Volcanoes are fun. Pacaya is one of Guatemala's many active volcanoes. We hike up the slopes , check out the lava, and roast some marshmallows.
