The Roman Villa in Piazza Armerina has the best preserved Roman floor tiles (mosaics) in the world. There are 63 rooms, 42 of which have extensively designed floor tiles. Most of the villa is under cover and you can't, for obvious reasons, walk on the tile floors. They have an extensive network of connecting walkways for us tourists. If you are fascinated by floor tiles, this is the place to visit in Sicily.

One hundred and forty-two steps each decorated with a unique series of decorative tiles. The steps built in 1608 were tiled in 1954 using island patterns from the 10th century that were collected and adapted by Antonino Ragona.
