A spectacular flight from Khorog to Dushanbe (Tajikistan) on Tajik Air. Some of the most frightening 45 minutes of air travel we've ever experienced, literally flying *through* the Pamir mountains near the Afghan border. Maximum plane altitude = 4,200 meters, surrounding mountain elevation = 5,000+ meters. We now know why this route is the only route for which Aeroflot used to give its pilots danger pay during Soviet times. The hair-raising footage is after the 30 second mark.
