Student Videos in Philadelphia!06/19/2008 13:06, by jamay in Tripfilms Blog |
When we heard that the 60 students in Miss Dunham's 8th grade class had spent over a month raising $4000 for a trip to Philadelphia, we immediately wanted to get involved. The students had organized bake sales, raffles, and even a basketball game so they could go on the trip; we wanted to help them make it as memorable and fun as possible. And what does Tripfilms consider the best way to remember and share trips? Travel videos of course!
Members of the Tripfilms team visited Miss Dunham's 2 classes at I.S.143 to give a short introduction about Tripfilms and how to make a good travel video. We then presented the class with six Flip video cameras and an enticing offer: the students who made the six best videos about the trip would get to keep the cameras!
The students were excited and full of ideas, so it wasn't a surprise to us when we saw what they came back with. In one minute videos, each student was able to capture a creative and unique snapshot of the trip for us to see. Watching the videos, we felt like we were on the trip too! Given that there was no editing involved, and each student had just a few minutes with a camera, I.S. 143 proved to us that it is indeed easy to make an informative and entertaining travel video if you just do a little thinking about the story you want to tell.
We are happy to announce the six winners of the contest:
Spaghetti Warehouse by Gabriella
National Constitution Center by Hehidy
National Constitution Center 5 by Jeson
Penn's Landing 3 by Jessica
Liberty Bell 3 by Juan
Liberty Bell 4 by Marlene
Congratulations to the students of 801 and 804 at I.S. 143! We hope you will continue to develop your filmmaking skills and remember to make travel videos during your next trip!
