Filmmaker Spotlight: Antonio Aleixo

03/20/2008 12:03, by MoDean in Tripfilms Blog

At Tripfilms, we see hundreds of fantastic, vivid films dedicated to documenting places, activities, or experiences from a traveler’s perspective. It’s not often, though, that we see a place through many eyes: young and old, native and transplant, rich and poor. We were swept away this week by Antonio Aleixo’s lovely montage of locals in Setubal, Portugal, answering the simple question, “What is Setubal?” In a whirlwind tour through the city’s plazas, markets, and fishing docks, we see answers that range from matter-of-fact to funny, ridiculous to heart-breaking. It’s a truly enthralling trip—and we can’t wait to embark on more with this thoughtful and creative filmmaker.
