What's Hot at Tripfilms: April 14-1804/15/2008 11:04, by MoDean in Tripfilms Blog |
We’re back at the Tripfilms blog—and what a hot few weeks it’s been for our filmmakers! Fearless travelers hellotrain get the heat rolling at a full boil with Hiking the Pacaya Volcano in Antigua, Guatemala. Follow their trek across the lava-spewing monster, learn about a whole new way to enjoy s’mores, and take in a truly heartwearming sunset framed by volcanoes—without the burning feet.
Across the pond, Jack Sparrow opted for a different kind of heat—the heat generated by hundreds of sweaty Clash fans during the annual Strummercamp 2007, a festival honoring the late Clash frontman Joe Strummer. With this riff on the classic “What I Did on My Summer Vacation” assignment, this filmmaking punk lets us listen in on some feverish performances by Clash cover artists honoring the music legend. For those of you watching from home: moshing is optional.
But perhaps the most cringe-inducing heat we’ve seen this week comes from veteran filmmaker Lauren Saffa, who works up a sweat sampling various savory treats in Street Snacking in Hong Kong, including something called “stinky deep-fried bean curd” and a fish ball she can only describe—repeatedly—as “spicy.” Hot or not, these snacks—and the game face she puts on to try them—earn her major “cool” points at Tripfilms.
