Zipping up the side of a mountain (3600 feet in 10 minutes) is a efficient way to get around, but the altitude catches pretty quick. Thin as the air was, it was the vistas that were breathtaking. At 13,300 ft, you can see Quito and the surrounding volcanoes.

Today I embarked on a journey to the stratovolcano Cotopaxi. It's the second highest peak in Ecuador. After a bumpy, two-hour drive, I was ready to rock the mountain. Turns out altitude and I don't mesh, so Cotopaxi and all of it's 19,347 ft rocked me. And I was only at 17,500 ft.
