This brings me back! Great job
I enjoy the silent observer approach that you've taken that lets the essential beauty of the scene come through. Nice one.
Well done. Simple and compelling in style and content, alike.
I think the subtitles worked. Subtitle is subtle. Often they are annoying, but in this case, putting your voice, with your accent would have distracted. I like your use of sound throughout, well done.
I have always wanted to see the morning alms tradition of Laos. Thanks for bringing it to life for us. Great work.

Every morning in Theravada Buddhist societies, the monks gather their alms bowls around 6AM. Drums wake the people to notify them that the monks are coming. The monks then walk throughout their neighborhood collecting food they will eat for the day. The tradition dates back to the time of the Buddha.
