Blanche and Karen enjoy drinks at Villa Santi, a lovely residence that combines French-Lao architecture and was once home to King Sisavang Vong's wife. They serve a Luang Prabang specialty, khao kam, which is a wine made out of fermented sticky rice - it was surprisingly good.
