Ponte Vecchio - Day, Sunset, & Night
The best way to experience one of the world's most famous and picturesque bridges is at three different times of day. The Ponte Vecchio, or "old bridge," was constructed in 1345 after the previous bridge crossing the narrowest part of the Arno was swept away in a flood. Bridges at this point have existed since Roman times, and now dams outside the city keep the river at a steady flow to ensure the safety of the Ponte Vecchio. Strolling across the bridge can make you feel as if you're going back in time, that is if you can fight the tourist crowds that sometimes build here during high season.
