As a recent resident of Kailua-Kona, HI, I had the great privilege of being here for the Ironman World Championship. It's a crazy triathlon, that requires athletes to swim 2.4 mi, bike 112 mi, and then run 26.2 mi! It's the world championship, so you have to qualify to get a spot. The best of the best compete in this event. The whole town dedicates itself to the Ironman for the day, and it is truly an emotional event to watch. My favorite part was cheering on all the non-pro athletes, you know, the average Joes that decided they wanted to do this event. Watching the last finishers finish is really inspiring!
