The answer is Rancho San Marcos - And when you play golf at Rancho San Marcos don't be surprised if you find the only crowd on the tees is a family of deer. And after a round of golf where to dine? Just over the hill from Santa Barbara off Highway 154 near Rancho San Marcos is Cold Spring Tavern. Cold Spring was voted the most romantic restaurant in the Nipper's restaurant poll several years ago. The tavern dates back to 1865. In 1941 Adelaide Ovington bought Cold Spring Tavern for $2000. It is still in her family today. Cold Spring Tavern actually has more than one spring as there are 52 springs on the property. The natural spring water is served at the bar and restaurant and used in all food and beverage preparation. The restaurant serves classic American food with specialties like chili, burgers and BBQ tri tip. They also have fish and grilled meats in the evening.
