Episode 1: A very Chic and better than basic hotel in Madrid

The chic & basic Atocha hotel was such a highlight of my whole experience in Spain. After a long, tiring flight from the States, the hotel literally felt like heaven. It was on the quiet end of a main street, only 5 minutes from the Atocha train and metro station, and a short walk to El Prado and downtown Madrid.

I loved the crisp white room, with fantastic views, comforatble bed, flatscreen, large bathroom and the roof access was the cherry on top. We had our free croissants and fruits on the roof with our free cappuccinos--and when you have jetlag, that's MUCH needed. Also, the helpful staff and free wifi helped us plan the rest of our trip. What a great, affordable homebase--I'd definitely stay there again.
