Vienna, Austria: Traditional & Modern

Vienna used to be the center of the world, and it's opulence and focus on art and culture is apparent on every cobblestone, fountain or baroque facade. But do not be fooled, though the MuseumQuartier boasts traditional museums and the grand opera house is a glorious site at night, the city is very young and modern. The Mariahilferstrasse is the main shopping street with high end shops like Swarovski down to touristy trinket stores. The city had a very modern aesthetic mixed in--the cathedral is juxtaposed right next to the all glass reflecting Haus House. Cafes, restaurants, and swanky lounges cover the city and a tasty lunch spot is the Naschmarkt. All in all, the city has enough history, culture, food and fun to keep anyone entertained for days.
