Burgenland's Weingut Sommer Vineyard

Burgenland is a producer of some of Austria's best wines. From sweet wines to Blaufrankisch, Burgenland's wines are top notch. The fertile valley region has the right climate for growing a variety of grapes.

Just outside of Eisenstadt, in Donnerskirchen, the Weingut Sommer has been producing wine since the mid 1600s. The Sommer family still works there today, planting, growing, harvesting and pressing. We had the privilege of seeing how a grape goes from the vine, to the press to the tanks and ultimately, to our glass. This vineyard and winery is a truly well-done local affair, and the hard work is evidenced in their delicious wines.
