Salzburg's Stiegl Brawault Brewery and Tour

Stiegl--Austria's best local beer
Stiegl is Austria's favorite local beer. After having been to over twelve beer factory tours, I can safely say that the Stiegl Factory is hands-down my favorite. We were lucky enough to have a behind the scenes tour of this modern brewery, starting at the beginning of the beer process with the vats of barley and hops. After we saw how it was made, we went to the museum to have a history lesson which detailed the origins of beer making all the way up to the first Stiegl brewery created over 500 years ago and then now to it's status as top Austrian beer of today. Of course, no tour is complete without a tasting. We sampled all the fresh beers on tap, and each one was more delicious than the last. My favorite was the Dunkel and after, cameraman, Justin grabbed a growler of the good brew in the store and I picked up a few more souvenirs. It's a cab ride outside of Salzburg village, but it's surely worth it. Stiegl is rarely sold in the USA, so head to Salzburg for the freshest brew.
