Alcatraz

Visiting Alcatraz island when you are in SF is a no-brainer I'd say, The old prison has a lot of stories to tell. When entering the island every visitor receives a pair of headphones with which you can listen to former guards and inmates. This also makes it very quiet in the prison itself, pause your tape every once in a while, remove your headphones and respect the silence.
