Food Fighting: "Jang-Uh" (Eel)
2011. Darrin Lee. Stamina. It's always about the stamina here. Sorry to some, but just because it resembles the male reproductive organ doesn't mean it's going to fix anyone's. Like so many other Korean foods, "Jang-Uh", or Eel, is eaten by native men and couples to "increase stamina" and promote "Penis Power". These are direct quotes; I'm not making it up. If you're the do it yourself "giver" type, Busan has the Jagalchi market. Here you can actually purchase your entree from the market, and then take it to one of the restaurants to cook and add with rice and side dishes. If you're looking to be waited on, the "inshore hagfish broiled with straw" can be prepared and served to you for 22,000 KRW/person. It's divine wrapped in mint leaves with a slice of fresh garlic. Just don't expect it to change any genetically determined dysfunction... Ahem. -30-
