Community-run Tourism Transforms Villages in Northern Guatemala

Community-run, eco-tourism has meant an economic turnaround for once-isolated villages in Guatemala?s northern province of Alta Verapaz. Indeed, until a few years ago, most villagers had never even met a tourist. Today, domestic and international tourists have become commonplace. This short video documents how these communities have embraced and benefited from the Community Tourism Alliance project, which is supported by the U.S. Agency for International Development and implemented by Counterpart. www.counterpart.org
