St. Patrick wasn't Irish! He was born in Britain around A.D. 390, and at 16 was kidnapped and ended up a slave in Ireland. After he escaped he set out to convert the Irish to Christianity. He spent the rest of his life proselytizing, climbing mountains, and performing miracles, such as banishing snakes, and using three-leafed shamrocks to explain the Holy Trinity, and somehow inspiring green beer.
