Freedom is alive and well in the street murals of New York City.

The Original Chinatown Ice Cream Factory has both traditional and "Chinatown" original flavors like Almond Cookie, Black Sesame, and Red Bean. I like the banana flavor and the green tea ones. This is the best old school ice cream place in Manhattan now that mega chains like Cold Stone and Ben and Jerry's are everywhere.

Wichcraft is the perfect place for a snack if you're heading to Bryant Park, just a block away from times sqaure. There are three little Wichcraft kiosks: one for coffee and pastries (and hot chocolate), one for ice cream, and one for sandwiches. This video gives you a little preview of how nice the park is.

The Sony Atrium on 55th between 5th and Madison is the best public place in midtown for an indoor break. Workers and tourists gather there for lunch and coffee breaks. It is connected to the Sony Store.

South Street Seaport hosts the annual NY brewfest, where hundreds of craft brewers gather to give out samples of their best brews. I checked it out, and despite the rain, it was a fun way to get a beer education. (This was shot with my digital camera!)

St Marks Place (8th Street between 3rd Ave and Ave A in the East Village) is always buzzing with activity. There are so many restaurants and shops tucked into every corner, with everything from yakitori joints to tattoo parlors, jewelry stands, pizza shops, yoga studios, indie music vendors, and more. It's a great place to people watch and get some really yummy and affordable food. (This is an example of an unedited 30-second video clip shot on a regular digital camera.)

visited the NYC Waterfalls with my in-laws. We took a boat ride to see the NYC Waterfalls, a public art exhibit by Olafur Eliasson. Take the 30 minute boat tour from the South Street Seaport to see closeup views of all 4 of these remarkable waterfalls.
