Exploring Monkey Temple

Join David as he explores one of the ancient cities of Thailand, Lopburi. Located 150 kilometers northeast of Thailand (three-hour drive), the city is a living museum of ancient Angkor-style temples. Lopburi is one of Thailand's oldest inhabited cities. It has earned the nickname "City of Monkeys" and it's easy to see why. Lopburi is completely overrun with hundreds of crab eating macaques. These mischievous monkeys are concentrated around the two main temples: Phra Prang Sam Yot and Phra Kaan Shrine (across the street from one another). Many people visit Lopburi as part of a group tour, but it is possible to park near the railway station and sightsee on your own by foot. Just don't leave your belongings unattended! Unlike the historical parks of Ayutthaya and Sukothai, the ruins of Lopburi are more spread out and will require more effort to see them all.
