The Southern Medina, Marrakesh

South of the Koutoubia Mosque in Marrakesh are a plethora of interesting sites. We begin our tour visiting the Badi Palace. This was a "brilliant" complex that was stripped with little left but the massive pink walls. The nearby Saadian tombs, however, were not stripped and is an excellent example of 17th century art and architecture. The Bahia Palace is slightly more contemporary. The 19th century mansion is a real gem and should not be missed.
